Re:Store is a refill shop that opened in Hackney Downs Studios in February 2019. The owner Megan opened the shop after recognising a need for more conscious shopping, and being inspired by the small number of zero waste shops that were open at the time in London.
The concept is that customers bring their own containers (this can be anything from jam jars to sandwich bags, to old plastic takeaway containers) to refill with the range of products you can see on this website, and just pay by weight!
The main aim is to reduce the use of plastic and packaging to reduce our overall impact on the planet, but we also want to create a strong sense of community by hosting events and sharing information, and being inclusive and accessible with our pricing.
We make every effort to source the most ethical products. Most of our food products are Organic, Vegan and produced or made in Europe. We have a number of small Hackney based suppliers as we love to source locally and support fellow independent businesses, as well as sourcing products from ethical wholesalers. All of our household cleaning and personal care products are free from SLS and parabens, and are vegan, cruelty-free, and made in the UK.
