If you've made a new years resolution to use less plastic, or just feeling some motivation to do your bit, you've come to the right place!
We've all become more aware over the last year of how surrounded we are by plastic in our everyday lives. It's a journey to swap to sustainable plastic-free alternatives, so why not start with some of these small changes and take it step by step.
1. Shampoo bars
By now I'm sure you've heard of shampoo bars, a solid soap-like bar that is formulated for hair washing, but have you tried one yet? They last for ages, lather up well and often even extend the time between washes, as well as reducing a huge volume of plastic shampoo bottles. A favourite is the Orange & Cinammon Lamazuna shampoo solide.
2. Reusable Coffee Cups
Need your daily coffee to get you through the morning? No problem, but get yourself a beautiful reusable cup and not only will you feel better saving all those disposable cups, but you'll be the envy of everyone else in the coffee shop. Keep Cup and rCup are great options for design and quality.
3. Cotton Product Bags
Don't get caught out needing a bag, by always having a few cotton produce bags in your backpack ready to go to a zero waste shop or buy loose product, any time
4. Wax wraps
One of the products people get the most excited about (because it's genius) are wax wraps that replace cling film. A piece of cotton is covered in either beeswax, or plant waxes for the vegan versions, and becomes a reusable cover that lasts up to a year of wrapping up half an avocado or covering your leftovers. Cling film is a real pest in recycling facilities so definitely a good product to cut out.
5. Bamboo Cotton Buds
Not much to say here - your handy cotton bud made with bamboo rather than plastic.
6. Bamboo Cutlery
There are some lovely bamboo cutlery sets out there that come with a little cover so when you've finished your tasty lunch out and about (guilt-free because you brought your own cutlery) it doesn't get your bag mucky.
These are just a few quick, easy swaps you can make right now, more to come!
